· To gather and update the knowledge of scientific aspects related to Hoasca tea.

· To make all scientific knowledge about Hoasca available to all members of the UDV.

· To ensure the fulfillment of the Mission Statement of the Health Professionals of the UDV, as well as being the department responsible for updating it.

· To represent the UDV before legal and scientific authorities as the medical-scientific department of the institution .

· To evaluate and accompany research proposals presented by members of the Center or researchers connected with other scientific institutions.

· To be responsible for the institutional publication of the results of studies performed within the UDV that are under the responsibility and supervision of the Department.

· To be the reference point for medical recommendations regarding the effects of the substances present in Hoasca tea .

· To accompany and cooperate in the fulfillment of requirements established by the Division of Sanitary Monitoring of Medicines of the Brazilian Ministry of Health (DIMED) regarding sanitary precautions related to the preparation, regulation, transportation and storage of Hoasca tea

· To recommend precautions for the collective health of the members of the Center in terms of sanitary hygiene, particularly in terms of the prevention and control of infectious disease.

· ETo establish recommendations and monitoring in the area of mental health as well as situations associated with the use of neurological and psychiatric drugs.
